OUT OF THE BOX

CONNECTING VIA BLUETOOTH

Bluetooth
  1. Remove controller from packaging and power it on by pressing and holding the ‘Home Button’ for 2 seconds. The controller should power on and LEDs should cycle (LEDs will move from right to left one by one and then left most LED will say illuminated).
    1. Please note: If the controller does not power on, plug it in via the provided USB-C cable to charge.
  2. Navigate to your phones ‘settings’ app and select the Bluetooth menu​.
  3. Ensure that Bluetooth is toggled to the ON position​.
  4. Press and hold the Bluetooth button on the controller for ~2 seconds to enter pairing mode​.
    1. All LED lights will pulse to confirm that pairing mode has been achieved.
    2. Please note that on first time setup, the controller shall already be in pairing mode when first turned on​.
  5. Find and select the SCUF Nomad Mobile Controller on your phone’s Other Devices list​.
    1. Once paired the device status will show as connected on your phone.
    2. LED lights will stop pulsing and show a single active LED to confirm that it has been paired successfully​.
    3. Once paired users will be prompted to download the SCUF Nomad Companion App if the app is not already present on the phone​.
    4. If the app is already present on the phone, pairing the Nomad controller will automatically launch the SCUF app​.
    5. If the SCUF app is launched without a Nomad controller paired, it will alert users that the controller is disconnected​.

Please note that some 3rd party Bluetooth headphones may cause interference. We recommend using Apple Headphones or “Made for iPhone” certified devices for the best experience​.

ONCE PAIRED​

  1. Please ensure that you have a stable internet connection as the SCUF Companion app will search for internet connection​.
    1. Please note: If no internet connection is present the play offline mode shall appear.
    2. SCUF recommends using a stable internet connection​.
  2. The SCUF app cloud will automatically sync with the App store and consolidate all compatible games / apps​.

INSERTING THE PHONE​

Phone insert
  1. Pull on the handles to expand the clamp​.
  2. Orient the phone horizontally and rest its back face against the rubber pad found on the telescoping bridge​.
  3. Ensure that the camera is unobstructed by the bridge (rotate the phone if needed)​.
    1. If necessary, use the included iPhone 14 & 15 adapter​.
  4. Insert the phone into the expanded clamp and orient it so that the camera is facing the rubber pad of the bridge.
    1. ​Please note: Use the provided adapter if you are using any variant of the iPhone 14 or 15​.
      1. To use adapter: orient the adapter so that the SCUF logo is facing you​.
      2. Slide the horizontal slit of the adapter onto the lip of the controller located on the telescoping bridge (under the “SCUF” text).
  5. Gently release the expanded clamp and allow the phone to be gripped.
  6. When inserted properly, the phone should be held in place by the retaining channels of the controller​.

Warning: Pinch Hazard.

Please be careful when expanding and releasing the clamp.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING THUMBSTICK TOPPERS​

To Remove a Thumbstick Topper​

  1. Locate the south (six o’clock) edge of the thumbstick topper​.
  2. Using your thumb, move the thumbstick directly north (up direction) and position your thumb on the underside of the south edge of the topper​.
    1. Keep the thumbstick held in the north direction until topper is removed​.
  3. Using your index finger, position your finger on the topside of the south edge of the topper making a pinching gesture​.
    1. Please note that your thumb should be positioned on the underside of the south edge of the topper simultaneously​.
  4. While maintaining the pinching gesture, using your thumb and moderate force, push upward from the underside of the south edge of the topper until you feel a pop and then pull the topper all the way up.​

To Install a Thumbstick Topper​

  1. Locate the “SCUF” text on the top of the topper​.
  2. Position the topper above the top of the thumbstick shaft and ensure that the “SCUF” text is oriented at the north position (12 o’clock)​.
  3. Using moderate to strong force, press down until you feel a pop​.
  4. Ensure that the “SCUF” text is positioned at the north direction.
    1. If needed, rotate the topper so that the “SCUF” text is aligned at the north direction​.

CHECKING BATTERY LEVEL​

Battery status
  1. To check the battery level of your controller simply turn on your controller and launch the SCUF Nomad Companion App​.
  2. The battery level of the controller can be found in the top right corner of the home screen​.
  3. Another way to check battery level is by plugging in a USB-C cable into your controller​.
  4. Once plugged in, for a few seconds, the status lights will communicate the battery level by showing a range of lights​.
    1. Please note each light shown represents about 25% battery level (two lights represent around 50% battery level, three lights represent about 75%, etc.)​.

QUICK START EXPERIENCE​

  1. Launch the SCUF Companion App to start the quick start experience walkthrough tutorial.​
    1. The quick start experience will walk you through a quick overview of the features that come with your SCUF Nomad.​
  2. Please note that the SCUF Nomad can be used without the SCUF Companion App, however some function will not be available such as Paddles, Remapping, Firmware Updates, etc.​

RESETTING SCUF NOMAD​

To reset the SCUF Nomad, press and hold the Home Button and Bluetooth Button for 5 seconds.​

Please note that resetting the controller will unpair the controller from your device​.

You will need to forget the device in your device settings and re-pair the controller back to your device​.

CREATING CONTENT​

  1. Double tap the SCUF button to take a screen shot​.
  2. Press and hold the SCUF button for 2 seconds to start a screen recording. Press and hold the SCUF button again for 2 seconds to stop screen recording.​

Please note: Screen shots / screen recordings will be stored on your device indexed via the SCUF Nomad Companion App in a predesignated folder.​

SHARING CONTENT VIA COMPANION APP​

  1. Launch the SCUF Nomad Companion App​.
  2. Navigate to the Gallery section​.
  3. Navigate left or right to find the content you wish to share​.
  4. Tap the Share icon or press RB to open the iOS interface​.
  5. Select the application / method which you intend to share content from. (i.e. Messenger, Facebook, Discord…)​.

REMAPPING​

Remapping
  1. Launch the SCUF Nomad Companion App​.
  2. Navigate to the Menu section​.
  3. Select “Profiles” and the profile you wish to edit.​
  4. Choose the input you wish to remap​.
  5. Choose the function you want to map to your selected input​.

Now you have successfully remapped an input​.

CREATING PROFILES​

  1. Launch the SCUF Nomad Companion App​.
  2. Navigate to the Menu section​.
  3. Select “Profiles” and then press the X button.​
  4. Assign the mappings you want on your new profile.​
  5. You can name your new profile by selecting the three dots (…) next to the profile and choosing “Rename”.​

Now you have successfully created a new profile.​
