Becoming A Better FIFA 21 Player Part 2

Becoming A Better FIFA 21 Player Part 2

This is Part 2 of how to become a better FIFA player, be sure to check out Part 1 if you missed it. In the first part, we reviewed the basics and essentials to get you started - from there, we're now going over advanced settings to tailor your game to your style so you can dominate the pitch.

Team Tactics

In Part 1, we went over how you should tailor your team formation to your preference, but the real deal is with modifying Team Tactics. There are five main settings for Offensive Tactics you can tweak to suit how you like to play.

Offensive Style

First up is Offensive Style, which under this there are four you can pick from.

  • Possession: favours a shorter passing game, players move into positions to keep the ball rather than making off the ball runs in behind defenders.

  • Balanced: Some players make attacking runs, but aries to maintain the team shape when on the ball.

  • Long Ball: Pushes players forward in behind defenders and forwards will make attacking runs even while your defenders have the ball.

  • Fast Build Up: All attacking players will attempt to make runs and defenders will push up when you have the ball. Keep in mind that this will put more players in attack but can leave teams exposed on the defensive.

Offensive Width

Next is, Offensive Width which determines how wide your players play when in possession. There are three main settings in this option which adjust on a scale of 1-10.

  • Narrow: 1-3 suits formations which have a lot of central midfielders rather than wingers.

  • Normal: 4-7 is a balance between narrow and wide

  • Wide: 8-10 suited to exploit the flanks with wingers and full-backs

Players in Box

Players in Box will determine how many of your players will look to get into the area when you cross from the wings. There are three main settings in this option which adjust on a scale of 1-10.

  • Low: 1-3 puts only your forwards in the area to meet crosses

  • Normal: 4-7 causes some midfielders to also attempt to get into the box

  • High: 8-10 will push as many players into the area

Corners and Free Kicks

Corners and Free Kicks adjust using a 1-5 scale, from Low to High. These will determine how many players are in the area for corners and attacking free kicks. Low will keep more players back while High is for attacking and will even send defenders up.

Improve your Movement

You can improve your moment control with the proper thumbsticks. Each SCUF has interchangeable thumbsticks to suit your playstyle. There are two parts to the thumbstick: its shape and its length.

  • Concave Thumbsticks are designed for more movement control.

  • Domed Thumbsticks are designed for more accuracy.

  • Short Thumbsticks are designed for quicker movement speed

  • Tall Thumbsticks are designed to have more angle to play with.

Short concave thumbsticks will give you better grip to dig into while playing, so you can turn sharply or perform skill shots swiftly. The shorter length will increase your speed and efficiency.

That being said, if you have larger hands you may want to try the taller thumbsticks for improved comfort while playing.
