Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Gameplay Tips

Assassin’s Creed has a lot of options of things you can do from exploring to completing the story as an open-world game, so here are some key tips to help you the most while you play, especially starting early on.

  • Stick to the story first. When you get to a new area, do the story parts first: often you’ll go to several places on the map for the story, so you won’t run the risk of having to go somewhere twice from exploring early. After that, feel free to explore around the area.

  • Upgrade your rations early. Rations are how you heal up, so upgrading this first will let you have more at your fingertips early.

  • Upgrade your quiver next. This will give you more arrows to use, which arrows can be free kills early on.

  • Use your Raven to scout. If you’ve played other Assassin’s Creed games, you’ll be familiar with this - keep in mind, this time the raven doesn’t automatically reveal and mark enemies as red, but you can manually tag them so you know where they are. It can mark enemies that are carrying a key.

  • Use your Odin’s Sight. Odin’s Sight will reveal enemies and points of interest - from wealth or locks on the other side of a door.

  • Seek out Books of Knowledge. These will teach you new abilities to use to gain some variety in combat.

  • Mind your Stamina. When fighting, dodging, blocking, and heavy strikes all count against your stamina, so be mindful of how often you use them.

  • Upgrade your Settlement. You’ll unlock new quests and features by upgrading your settlement - and it’ll look great too.

  • You can reset the Skill Tree if you need to. You’ll find as you upgrade parts of the tree, more will be revealed to you - if you realize you want to change something, you can.

  • Put out Fire by dodging. Fire is incredibly harmful, and sometimes you catch fire by accident or from an enemy - dodging will help put it out (good ol’ stop, drop, and roll eh?)

  • Aim for orange spots. Orange spots are weak point on the enemy - particularly useful for those really tough ones.

  • Boosts your stats with armor and weapons. The weapons and armor you pick should match the playstyle and school you want to use - such as Raven (Stealth), Bear (Heavy), and Wolf (Ranged). Armor comes in sets that will provide bonuses for wearing a complete set.

  • You can always return to Norway. If you miss something, or just want to go back and explore, you can go back to Norway using the Atlas menu.

Just like you can tailor your gameplay to suit you, you can customize your SCUF to how you like to play.

Dodge and evade incoming attacks with easy access to the left paddle and duck behind cover or stealth to take out enemies with easy access on the right paddle.

With Four Paddles, you’ll have quick access to the above moves, as well as a quick press to heal in the middle of combat and Odin’s Sight and Targeting if you like. Pressing in a paddle for longer to activate Odins Sight is significantly more comfortable than the thumbstick - but you can also use the paddle for Odins Sight and keep targeting with the thumbstick if you like.

Keep in mind that the SCUF Infinity4PSPro and SCUF IMPACT are only compatible with the PS4 editions of Assassin's Creed Valhalla. The SCUF Prestige is compatible with next gen Xbox: Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. For more information on compatibility, check here

Thumbsticks

To give you more control over your movement and looking around, we recommend using two short concave thumbsticks. You’ll be able to really dig in to have precise movement and to target, but also be able to do so quickly.

Keep in mind that SCUF Thumbsticks are interchangeable, so you can test out different ones that best suit your playstyle.

High Performance Grip

While you’re playing for hours pillaging and conquering England, high-performance grip will reduce slippage and increase comfort during long hours of play. Don’t let sweaty hands get in the way of your adventure.
