Resident Evil 3 Game Guide

Resident Evil 3 Game Guide

Following in its predecessor’s footsteps, Resident Evil 3 remake has got an upgrade from its original fixed view gameplay for a more dynamic, modern feel. It also includes a multiplayer gameplay mode, Resident Evil: Resistance.

With the deadly T-Virus running rampant through Raccoon City, you’ll play as Jill Valentine, a S.T.A.R.S. operative, trying to figure out what exactly Umbrella Corporation has unleashed on the city. You’ll partner up with Carlos Oliveira to try to save the city, and yourselves.

Unfortunately for Jill, a seemingly unkillable and relentless Nemesis, is always on your trail. Find out how to improve your gameplay and have a much better time of facing off against what is coming your way with SCUF.

How To Improve Your Gameplay Using a SCUF

Paddles

Resident Evil: 3 can be intense, and you want to have the ability to quickly swap out weapons while fighting without sacrificing your movement.

By default, you swap weapons via the D-Pad, meaning you have to take your thumb off to switch it up. Using a SCUF, you can remap these to the back paddles.

In your inventory, you can select which weapons go into which slots, so program your favorites first. Next, remap them to the back paddles and you’re ready for any kind of zombie coming your way.

Remapping

Since SCUF’s paddles are remappable to suit how you like to play, try out some other great ways to play that will work best for your style.

We found remapping Sprint (Left Stick Click) to a Paddle can help overcome exhaustion and strain from running away from Nemesis.

Or maybe later on in the game, you’d prefer to have all your weapon slots on your Paddles, so you can switch out your shotgun for your grenade launcher, or to a grenade or your handgun.

Note: D-Pad Up and D-Pad Down are only remappable on the SCUF Vantage 2 and SCUF Prestige.

Thumbsticks

Having the right thumbsticks that suit your playstyle and hand size will help improve your aim as well as comfort during long play sessions.

Starting off with the types of thumbsticks:

  • Concave Thumbsticks are designed for more control over movement.

  • Domed Thumbsticks are designed for more accuracy.

  • Short Thumbsticks are designed for quicker movement speed.

  • Tall Thumbsticks are designed to have more angle to play with and more precise aiming.

For Resident Evil 3, we recommend a Short Concave Thumbstick on the left to quickly switch directions while dodging enemies and to quickly aim, and a Short Domed Thumbstick on the right to efficiently and accurately aim during combat.

Trigger Stops

Trigger stops are great for decreasing the amount you have to press in the Trigger to aim and shoot, thus shooting quicker. Just flip them on, and you’re ready to go.

Be mindful, you’ll need to turn them off during quicktime events that involve the Triggers.

Grip

Avoid slipping during intense fights, with high performance grip: a textured non-slip surface on each SCUF controller. This is perfect for long gaming sessions to improve comfort and performance.

Vibration

Increase your comfort by ordering your SCUF without vibration modules / rumbles (or taking them out if you’re using a SCUF Vantage 2). Vibration can cause fatigue overtime from the added weight in your controller.

Resident Evil 3 Gameplay Tips

Here are a few things of note to help improve gameplay:

  • Downing a zombie does not mean that it can’t get back up, even with a headshot.

  • Be sure to backtrack when things are quiet and collect all you can through an area before moving on. It’ll keep you stocked up (you can store in your Item Box), but also you won’t be able to go back to previous areas during certain points in the story. You can check your map for red areas to see if you’ve missed something.

  • Don’t worry about conserving ammo (like in Resident Evil 2), there is a lot more ammo and materials to make ammo out and about this time around.

  • The Combat Knife will not break, unlike in the RE2 Remake, but you can’t counter enemies with it anymore.

  • The dodge mechanic is great, and should be used often for your survival especially around Nemesis. Be mindful of where you dodge though, there could be zombies waiting to grab you if you’re not careful.

  • Kite zombies for crowd control, so you don’t get overwhelmed.

  • When aiming at a zombie’s head, wait for them to lean into line of sight to shoot to avoid missing.

  • During several times when Nemesis shows up, don’t be afraid to hit him with a Grenade to stun him. He also may drop a supply case with an upgrade every once in a while.

  • Use explosive red barrels and short circuiting generators to stun and delay enemies, but especially Nemesis when fleeing him or during boss battles.

  • Hunter type enemies like the Gamma and Beta can insta-kill you, so keep your distance. Wait for them to expose their weak spot to unload a clip, or if you have grenades or the grenade launcher to launch to kill them.
