Top Controller Setups for Apex Legends

Season 4 of Apex Legends is quickly approaching on February 4th, 2020 in celebration of their one year anniversary. No matter what playstyle or gaming platform you prefer, maximize your potential and change your game with these recommended controller set ups.

SCUF Infinity4PS PRO for PS4 & PC

Melee Layout

Starting with this set up for aggressive players who love to pack a punch: easily land in a hot drop and start throwing punches with confidence. For some players, Meleeing with a Paddle improves timing and feels more comfortable than using the thumbstick.

  • Go into  Settings > Controller > Button Layout > Button Puncher

This will swap Crouch to the Right Thumbstick and Melee to Circle on PS4 and B on Xbox. Next set up your paddles by programming Melee to the Left Paddle and the Right Paddle to Jump (X on PS4, A on Xbox) .

Now in heated fights, you'll have the advantage to uppercut with better aim control and reaction time.

SCUF IMPACT for PS4 & PC | SCUF Prestige for Xbox One & PC

Grenadier Layout

The default in-game Grenadier Layout is great to give you quicker equipment access with the grenade wheel on R1; however, doing so comes at a cost as your essential communication, the Ping function, is moved to the harder-to-reach D-Pad. This controller setup works both for the SCUF Impact and SCUF Prestige.

SCUF solves this problem by allowing you to program Ping back to a place where you can easily access it: on the Paddles.

  • Go into  Settings > Controller > Button Layout > Select Grenadier

This will place your Crouch/Slide function onto the Right Thumbstick and Grenade Wheel on R1, then remap Ping (D-Pad Up) onto the far right Paddle. Now you can communicate essential information with your squad while also having improved access to using grenades.

SCUF VANTAGE 2 for PS4 & PC

The Essentials Layout

Apex Legends has very fast paced complex gameplay which their controls require a lot of likewise complex hand movement. Make gameplay easier by no longer moving towards the D-Pad when you need to heal up or toss a grenade in the heat of battle with the Health/Shield Wheel and the Grenade Wheel handily at your side on the SAX, ready to go.

Remap Health/Shield Wheel (D-Pad Up) to the left SAX button and Grenade Wheel (D-Pad Right) to the right SAX button.

This layout is great for every playstyle by covering all your basic necessities. Slide down dunes and climb up mountains while being prepared for any enemy on your horizon.

The Defensive Layout

Next up: This controller set up is specifically designed for those who are more cautious and would benefit from having the additional SAX Buttons set to quickly grab items and use them. Combat in Apex is fast, and sometimes the only way to survive is with speedy reactions.

Place Reload/Interact (Square on PS4) on the left SAX button and D-Pad Up (Health/Shield Wheel) to the right SAX button.

You’ll now be able to pick up a Med-Kit or Shield Recharge with the Left SAX and simultaneously use the Right SAX to immediately use the item in the middle of combat.

The Aggressive Layout

Alternatively for the more aggressive player who prioritizes doing damage over healing: this layout is perfect for when you want to run into a fight, unload a clip, and then switch to a new weapon and throw out grenades.

Map Weapon Switch (Triangle on PS4) on the left SAX button and Grenade Wheel (D-Pad Right) to the right SAX button. Lastly, remap the inner right paddle to Health/Shield Wheel (D-Pad Up).

Having these functions on the SAX buttons gives you the speed you need in the middle of a fight to Switch Weapons and toss Grenades while still having better access to Health on a Paddle.

Infinite Controller Set Ups
