Expert Controller Settings in PUBG

Expert Controller Settings in PUBG

PUBG has been around for a hot minute, since 2016 and is now on Season 7. While there are bound to be lots of experienced players, don’t let that stop you from trying to aim for the win and become a better player.

In this guide, we'll be going over all of our recommended controller settings from hardware in combination with in-game settings to really improve how you play.

Step One: Gameplay Settings

The default settings are okay to use especially when first starting out, but experimenting with them to find the best settings to work for you will make you an expert instead of a novice.

Controller Presets

One big difference between PUBG and other shooters like Call of Duty and Battlefield is that the ADS/aim system is a little odd and most people may find it difficult to use. You have to tap the trigger to aim down sights in first person, and hold to shoot in third person.

If you prefer a more classic approach, go ahead and swap that over to Type B. This will allow you to hold the trigger to enter ADS in first person, while you can hold the left bumper to aim in third person.

Keep in mind that if you want to zoom in while aiming, you will need to also hold down the left bumper while aiming using this setting. If that is uncomfortable, consider remapping one of the paddles to that left bumper so you can zoom in comfortably.

Aim Acceleration

We talked about this in our Improving Your Aim in PUBG Guide, but it is super important. Aim Acceleration makes your crosshair increase in speed as you hold down the trigger while aiming in a specific direction.

Unfortunately, it is set to 5 as the default and this can make aiming jittery and not smooth when trying to track enemies. We recommend either turning it off entirely, or just setting it to 1 for smooth reticle movement when aiming.

Sensitivity

There are a lot of customizable sensitivity options from movement to vertical to general to vehicle driver sensitivity. All of these are personal to you, so it is just going to take some experimenting to find what works for you.

That being said, keep in mind that if you like to play at higher sensitivities, we recommend lowering your vehicle specific sensitivity lower than your others to make it easier to steer properly.

Auto Reload

If you don’t want to hold down the reload button every time you have to reload, turn on Auto Reload. You can reload with a simple tap.

Auto Equip

For speed especially when first dropping onto the map, we recommend turning on Auto Equip for Attachments and Scopes. This will automatically equip your attachments to your weapons as you pick them up.

Auto Replace Attachments

While we do recommend auto equipping attachments and scopes, we do recommend turning off Auto Replace Attachments.

The reason being is that you may pick something up you want to use on a specific weapon or to save for later, so it may mess up your current loadout.

This could be detrimental if it happened right before a fight you weren’t expecting.

Step Two: Controller Triggers

SCUF’s Trigger Control system is available on every controller model and offers full trigger customization through adjustable trigger stops and hair triggers.

They will reduce the amount your trigger has to travel past the activation point and will allow for faster shooting and aiming, especially efficient with semi-automatic weapons.

For PUBG, you will want to have your Trigger Stops on unless you plan on using vehicles (which require the full trigger motion to operate).

To further tune your trigger movement, the hair triggers will allow you to modify the distance to the activation point so firing and aiming becomes a one-tap process.

You should only adjust your hair triggers in game; start by turning the key until you hit the activation point which is where your weapon will start shooting on its own, then dial it back 1 turn, or to your preference.

Step Three: Vibration and Grip

Vibration

Vibration can affect your aim, but also cause fatigue overtime from the added weight in your controller.

We recommend ordering your SCUF without vibration modules / rumbles (or taking them out if you’re using a SCUF Vantage 2).

If you do want to keep in the vibration modules, then just be sure to turn off vibration through the game settings. It’ll keep you from missing shots from unnecessary controller shake.

Grip

If you’re playing for hours on end trying to rack up chicken dinners, then you should consider having better grip on your controller. SCUF has a high performance grip that will reduce slippage from sweaty palms, but also feel more comfortable during long player sessions.

Earn That Chicken Dinner

Now that you have customized the different aspects of your controller and tuned your gameplay settings, it’s time to jump in-game and test your new setup using these expert PUBG controller settings!

Using all these controller settings will give you the advantage you need to win that chicken dinner.
