The SCUF News in eSports: Nov. 25th - Dec. 1st

We’re heading towards the end of the year, with the biggest tournaments starting to pick up steam. MLG Vegas is around the corner, the next season of the CWL can’t be far away, the HCS Season is heading toward conclusion, and the Gears circuit is cruising along.

So there’s plenty of console eSports to sink your teeth into. Here’s our pick of this week’s big stories from the world of eSports.

OpTic Gaming beat EnVyUs in MLG Columbus Gears Final

OpTic Gaming's Gears of War team took home another title when they won the MLG Columbus Major last weekend, defeating arch rivals EnVyUs in the Grand Final. BOT Empire rounded up the final podium place, with the top three taking a combined $220,000 in prize money. 7th /8th place honors were shared by Mexicans Splyce and Britons Epsilon, while travelling French teams, Vitality, Supremacy and Millenium placed top 12, top 20 and top 28 respectively. Australians Mindfreak also placed inside the top 20. In all, $300,000 in prize money was split between the top 16 teams.

Echo Fox Finalize Team

Echo Fox, the outfit fronted by former NBA star Rick Fox, announced their new Call of Duty line up ahead of MLG Vegas. Former tK man Neslo will take over at the helm of the take, receiving the baton from veteran star Proofy, who has similarly announced a new team recently. Nelso is joined by MethodZ, TcM and Mosh. Echo Fox CEO, Jace Hall, is confident that the organization have assembled a championship calibre roster.

3sUP Enterprises Announce Line Up

Yet more roster news this week, as 3sUP released details of their new foursome. Familiar faces Califa and Baker return to the line up, to be joined by Apox and Lawless. Along with the roster announcement, 3sUP confirmed the team’s attendance at MLG Vegas, where over 250 teams are expected to take part. The team will also return their attention to qualifying for the next season of the CWL, where details still remain thin on the ground.

A LAN by Brice Modern Warfare Remastered Tournament

British commentator Alan ‘Bricey’ Brice assembled one of the world’s first ever MWR tournaments, held in Colchester, UK. A number of the scene’s retired stars blew the dust off their controllers to return to compete, including former Epsilon and TCM man Flux, and COD XP 2011 fourth place finisher, RichE. In the end, the Flame Retardant team, comprised of Flux, Monksy, Bissell and Jake, took home first place, beating the RichE fronted The SAS team in the Grand Final. £1,000 in prize money was split between the top two.

Evil Geniuses v Enigma6 On Stage with 360° Camera

Finally, have you ever wanted to experience the Main Stage feeling of a major tournament, but haven’t quite made it to the elite level? Well, the guys over at Evil Geniuses Halo have got a solution for you, as the release the first 360° Camera view of a major tournament main stage face off.
