Last updated:

Downloading the Firmware

To enable 1K polling mode on your SCUF Valor Pro controller, you must first download the necessary firmware to your PC.

Click here to start the 1K Polling Firmware download.

Please note:

  1. By clicking the link the download will start automatically.
  2. This must be done on your PC (Windows 10/11).

Follow these steps for how to download and install the firmware properly:

  1. After downloading the file above, right click on the file and click ‘Run as Administrator’.
  2. Depending on your version of Windows, your computer may not recognize the app. If so, click on ‘More Info’ and then ‘Run anyway’. An additional permission may be required.
  3. From there, install the firmware to a file location you can easily find after. This should only take a moment and close out when complete.
  4. It will download a few necessary folders and an application called ‘SCUF_Valor_Updater’. Find this application in your assigned download location and run it. Run a search in your chosen file location if necessary.
  5. Next, follow the instructions provided on the screen and hold down on the left thumbstick of your Valor Pro while plugging in the USB-C cable. If you do not hold down the thumbstick while plugging in the controller, the application will not recognize it.
  6. When the installation is completed, you may need to unplug and re-plug in your controller.

Activating 1K Polling Mode

After successfully downloading and applying the firmware update, follow these steps to enable 1K polling mode:

  1. Ensure that your SCUF Valor Pro controller is plugged into your PC via a USB connection.
  2. Make sure the controller is powered on.
  3. Simultaneously press and hold the Menu, Share, and A buttons.
  4. The controller will automatically turn off and then power back on, indicating that 1K polling mode is now active.

Disabling 1K Polling Mode

If you need to disable 1K polling mode, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure that your controller is connected to your PC.
  2. Simultaneously press and hold the Menu, Share, and B buttons.
  3. The controller will automatically turn off. You will need to power back on the controller by pressing and holding the Nexus button until the status light turns on.

Please note that 1K polling mode is only available on PC. If you want to use your SCUF Valor Pro on Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One, you must disable 1K polling mode before reconnecting it to your console.

What is Polling Rate?

Polling rate refers to the frequency at which a computer peripheral transmits data to the connected device, measured in Hertz (Hz). This determines how often the peripheral updates its status to the computer, directly affecting responsiveness and input accuracy.

For instance, a polling rate of 1,000 Hz means that the device reports input data to the system 1,000 times per second. A higher polling rate results in lower input latency, reducing the delay between pressing a button and the action occurring in-game. This is particularly crucial for competitive gaming, where split-second decisions and precision are key to success.

Why 1K Polling Matters for Competitive Gaming

A faster polling rate improves response time, ensuring that your actions register with minimal delay. In fast-paced first-person shooters and battle royale games, even a fraction of a second can determine the outcome of a match. Professional and competitive players rely on high polling rates to ensure every input is executed as quickly and accurately as possible.

Controllers with a lower polling rate, such as 125 Hz or 250 Hz, introduce additional milliseconds of delay, which can be the difference between landing a precise shot and missing an opportunity. By enabling 1K polling, you significantly reduce input delay, giving you an edge over opponents using standard controllers.

How SCUF Valor Pro Takes Advantage of 1K Polling

SCUF Valor Pro is designed for high-performance gaming, and enabling 1K polling takes full advantage of its precision engineering. Here’s how it benefits you:

  1. Reduced Thumbstick Input Lag – With a 1,000 Hz polling rate, thumbstick movements are registered almost instantly, registering over 2x* faster.
  2. Increased Button Activation Speed - SCUF's 1K Polling Mode speeds up your button activations by over 2x*, helping you beat your opponent to the first shot.
  3. Smoother Performance – Our implementation of 1K polling ensures more consistent input detection, reducing inconsistencies that might otherwise affect gameplay.
  4. Optimized for PC Play – While 1K polling is not compatible with Xbox consoles, it provides an unparalleled experience for PC gamers looking to maximize their performance.

Activating 1K polling mode on your SCUF Valor Pro gives you a significant advantage in competitive gaming, ensuring faster input registration and smoother gameplay. If you’re serious about improving your performance, making the switch to 1K polling can be a game-changer.
